Helping Hands

Community

The Mission of Hokuloa Church is to follow Christ in our walk with God and each other-celebrating the traditions of our faith and the unique gift of our Hawaiian heritage, sharing our aloha with neighbors near and far, and renewing ourselves and the earth by grace-filled living and giving.

Sharing and Praying

We believe in sharing and praying together. We share our building with neighborhood groups and a Chuukese Congregation. Our church also has a long history of making our church and grounds available for use by community groups. AA and Al-Anon meetings are held at Hokuloa Church three times a week.

Hokuloa Church maintains an active prayer ministry. You are invited to share your intercessory prayers, joys, or concerns during worship each Sunday. You can also request prayers during the week by emailing the church office. You may ask that your prayer request remain confidential. Non-confidential prayer requests are shared with the Prayer Support Group. If you would like to join the online Prayer Support Group (PSG) please contact Marjorie Mrasek, in the church office: (808) 883-8295. You will receive periodic emails, connect with God, and pray with and for those requesting prayer.

Giving Time, Talent and Treasure

We seek live and give, to renew ourselves and the earth. Faithful stewardship involves giving of our time, talents, and treasure to support Hokuloa Church. Our current volunteer opportunities include:

  • Promoting the church to surrounding communities (Outreach Committee)

  • Staffing our Booth at first Saturday Waikoloa Market (Outreach Committee)

  • Assimilating new attendees into the life of the Church (Congregational Care/Faith Formation Committee)

  • Contacting our donor in appreciation (Stewardship)

  • Exploring the Peace Park Concept (Buildings and Grounds Committee)

  • Cleaning the church and land (Building and Grounds Committee)

What gifts or interests do you wish to share with Hokuloa? Please contact Yvonne Leiser or Melissa Thompson, Co-Moderators for further information.

Hokuloa Church partners with CarePortal to serve children and families in crisis. Jesus cast the widest net of love, tearing down cultural biases and promoting radical, personal generosity and concern for those in need. With that example, CarePortal brings together diverse constituents – government agencies, churches, businesses, schools, and other ministries – to support children and families in crisis regardless of race, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, political leanings, etc. CarePortal is a technological tool connecting social service agencies and churches. Church members monitor CarePortal requests and recommend how Hokuloa Church can respond as part of our local mission effort. Contact the church office for further information.
